It appears Polaroid will be taking a dip into the tabletsphere this year, as images of a tablet/eReader have been leaked ahead of its supposed CES debut.

Polaroid tablet/eReaderDubbed with the tagline of “tablet and camera” the device won’t neglect Polaroid’s roots, with the company touting the photo-taking capabilities of the slate. The tablet appears to offer a front-facing camera, in addition to a rear shooter, both equipped with a flash. Additionally, the device will sport a sizable speaker above the display, with the portrait orientation looking like the default angle, as hinted by the logo on the back.

Running a customized version of the Android OS, the unit leaked will apparently come loaded with the Kobo app, among others, giving those on the reader front something to enjoy. With a promo image of the device showcasing George R.R. Martin’s “A Dance with Dragons” on a colored screen, it will be interesting to see whether Polaroid will offer its own eBook store or rely on third-party content.
