Even though Netflix may now stream to some Honeycomb tablets, the iPad still has the advantage over Android devices when it comes to streaming media. CyberLink hopes to narrow that gap with its new media streaming app for Honeycomb tablets, which is now available in the Android Market.
Dubbed PowerDVD Mobile for Android, the new software allows users to stream media from PowerDVD on their computer directly to their tablet, stream media from the tablet to DLNA-certified TVs and share media between tablets. There is also a photo enhancement tool for touching up photos and creating slide shows.
CyberLink’s media player combines support for videos, photos and music as well. The app costs $20, however PowerDVD 11 Ultra users can activate the software for free with a code provided in the desktop version of the program.
The release of PowerDVD Mobile comes after CyberLink released a major update to its PowerDVD 11 Standard and PowerDVD 11 Ultra software, build 2024. The app is available in 10 languages, including English, German and Japanese, though the program is only compatible with tablets running Android 3.0 or higher.
