If component leaks from China are to be believed, the Apple iPad 3 is slowly showing itself, piece by piece.
Take a look at the photo below for an early look at the next Apple iPad home button, shown next to the iPad 2 home button for direct comparison. While it there is little difference in the design sans the size, the emergence does confirm that the iPad 3 will not be buttonless, as some rumors have indicated. Also, the leaked components suggest that Apple is in full-on mass production mode for an early-ish 2012 launch, just as it launched the original iPad and iPad 2 in early 2010 and 2011 respectively.
According to 9to5 Mac, which first published the photos, the redesigned button underside indicates slight iPad design tweaks. Rumors suggest that the iPad 3 will be approximately 1mm thicker than the iPad 2 on account of the iPad 3’s high-density Retina Display. The smaller button might be a way to offset some of the added girth.
