As speculated last week, Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled its new 4G LTE Blackberry PlayBook tablet today with built-in support for high-speed cellar networks. The device will be the first BlackBerry tablet to offer 4G LTE support and boasts faster performance speeds over the original PlayBook.

BlackBerry PlayBookDavid J. Smith Executive Vice President, Mobile computing at RIM is excited about the features offered with the new tablet; he stated:

“The new 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook offers a broad range of premium features, including a stunning 7 inch display, front and rear facing HD video cameras, HDMI out and stereo speakers, and it also offers premium performance on high speed cellular networks, helping customers to be more productive than ever and to make the most of their time on the go.”

In addition to its high speed connectivity the new Playbook will also sport the latest version of PlayBook OS 2 software. The combination of high network speeds and software will offer users a secure high-fidelity web experience that supports HTML 5 functionality.

Coming Next Week

The 4G Blackberry Playbook is going to come with 32GB of storage, and will be available from Bell, Rogers, and TELUS in Canada on August 9. Additional variants of the Blackberry Playbook tablet supporting various high speed cellular networks are expected to be released in the coming months in the US, Europe, South Africa, Latin America, and the Carribean.

While RIM has released a great deal of information about the 4G LTE Blackberry Playbook, it has refrained from announcing any details regarding the price of the device.
