RIM hasn’t made any official announcement yet, but it’s being rumored that the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s launch date has been confirmed. An earlier leak from Office Depot slated the slate for a late March or early April release, and it appears that estimate was pretty much on point.
Sources are saying that the BlackBerry PlayBook will be on store shelves and available to the public on April 10.
The PlayBook isn’t currently the primary focus of the tablet market, with the iPad 2 set to unveil today and the Motorola Xoom fresh out of the oven. However, RIM’s offering shouldn’t be discounted. Aside from featuring the renowned enterprise capabilities of the BlackBerry line, the PlayBook will also have the unique capability of crossing OS boundaries to run Android applications, and widespread network availability, as it will be offered by every major U.S. wireless carrier.
