The brief, which was sent to PreCentral, revealed that a new “white glossy” TouchPad is on its way this August and, besides the aesthetic change, will also undergo internal upgrades. Available only on the white TouchPad is a bump in storage to 64 GB — up from a max of 32 GB — as well as a faster processor. Though there has been no confirmation on the make or clock speed of the processor, rumor has it that it will be a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon.
But the white TouchPad isn’t the only thing coming this August from HP. A cellular version of the TouchPad is also due next month, and it’s branded as 4G. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the white (and upgraded) TouchPad users will get to enjoy the benefits of 4G connectivity, as the presentation said that, beyond the addition of the new radio, the cellular TouchPad will be identical to the 32 GB TouchPad.
And for those of you wondering if the brief made any mention of HP’s other webOS devices, including the Pre3 and 7-inch Opal tablet, it did…but not much was revealed about them. Though the Pre3 was previously scheduled for a summer release, it is now due, along with the Opal, in the general release window of “fall.”
