BlackBerry PlayBookThough the date hasn’t been officially confirmed by RIM, rumors abound that February 17 will be the release date for the long-awaited BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update.

It may technically still be a rumor, but February 17 does fit into the release window that RIM provided for the OS update back in October of last year, and it doesn’t seem implausible given that PlayBook OS 2.0 was seen running on RIM’s tablets at CES 2012. Granted, the version of the OS seen running at CES was OS and the final version will supposedly be OS, but any differences will likely be minute.

BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will bring a number of changes to the tablet OS; most importantly, perhaps, the inclusion of native email, calendar, and contact apps. It will also be the debut of BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps, which will allow PlayBook users to run Android Apps on their tablets.
