Android Ice Cream SandwichThe smartphone/tablet hybrid Samsung Galaxy Note, the American version of which was recently priced and dated, will be receiving an upgrade to Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

The announcement about the upgrade to ICS came via Samsung Norway’s Facebook page, where the company stated that the Galaxy S II will also be receiving the update in the same time window. As such, it seems likely that Norwegian customers will be among the first to receive the ICS update on their devices, with the rest of the world to hopefully follow shortly thereafter.

The American version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, which will be available on AT&T’s 4G LTE network, was revealed at CES 2012 last month and will be going on sale for $299.99 on February 5 (online purchases will be delivered February 17). At the time of shipment, the Galaxy Note will run Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread, so the ICS update will be coming to customers post-launch.
