Less than a month following its US release, the Samsung is claiming it has shipped more than 600,000 Galaxy Tab units worldwide. The Android tablet was first launched in Europe in mid-October. It has since been released in 30 countries.
Samsung claimed earlier this month that it expects to sell more than one million Galaxy Tabs worldwide by 2011. “Consumer responses in Europe and Asia have been quite good and we are confident of meeting one million sales mark this year,” said Samsung mobile division head JK Shin.
Meanwhile, as the Galaxy Tab gains steam, the Apple iPad continues to dominate the market. Apple has has sold more than 7 million units worldwide and the success has some analysts predicting sales to hit more than 10 million for the year. Compared to Samsung, Apple sold one million iPads after 28 days of being on the market.
