Samsung Galaxy Tab Active: A Rugged Android Tablet Aimed at Business

by Reads (319)

Samsung has unveiled its first tablet built specifically for business use. The Galaxy Tab Active is intended to be used in industries such as retail, logistics, and transportation.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Front and BackIt is a ruggedized version of the Galaxy Tab 3 — with its protective cover on, the device will be able to withstand a 1.2-meter drop, and it is going to be water and dust resistant with IP67 certification.

The Galaxy Tab Active will have an 8-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) display, and run Android 4.4 KitKat on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There will be 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot that can add up to 64GB more.

Samsung is including the “C-Pen” — a stylus that will be stored outside the cover to provide professionals who may have to wear gloves with an alternative input option to their finger.

Its 3.1MP rear-facing camera is intended to allow users to scan barcodes, and the tablet will include NFC technology. A 4450mAh battery will be swappable, so users won’t have to wait while the device recharges.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active will be sold in WiFi-only or WiFi and LTE variations.

It will be available in Titanium Green, and come with the Protective Cover and the C-Pen. Pricing for this business-oriented tablet has not yet been announced.
