Barnes & Noble is expected to introduce a Nook version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 at a press event on Aug. 20.
Previously, Barnes & Noble produced its own Nook line of Android tablets, but the company has mostly dropped that strategy in favor of partnering with Samsung. The book seller will save on the cost of hardware development, while the Korean company will have a new venue to offer one of its products. As both are facing tough competition from rivals (Amazon and Apple, respectively), the deal appears to be a win-win situation.
The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook was pre-announced in June but few details were made public at that time. It will apparently be a version of the already-available Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 with Nook ereader software prominently included.
More details, such as the price, will be revealed on Aug. 20.
