Samsung Will Make 64-bit Processors, Too
In the wake of Apple‘s announcement that it has developed a 64-bit processor for its mobile devices, Samsung says it is in the process of doing the same thing.
The iPhone 5s is going to be the first with the Apple A7 processor, which Apple says will have twice the performance of its predecessor.
Shin Jong-kyun, the head of Samsung’s mobile business, was asked if his company would follow suit, and he said “Our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality.”
While this doesn’t guarantee that future tablets from the Korean giant will use this processor, it seems likely that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series will have one, in addition to the Samsung Galaxy V smartphone.
Previously, Samsung has been concentrating its efforts on building more processing cores into its chips — its latest-generation Exynos Octa has 8 cores.
