Though Amazon disappointed consumers by not revealing its upcoming tablet during the company’s earnings report, a newly leaked list provides awaiting customers with some component details.
According to the DigiTimes, suppliers like Wintek, J Touch and Chunghwa Picture Tubes will provide touch panels and sensors for the tablets, which will be powered with NVIDIA CPUs. At least the 7-inch Amazon tablet will have a glass-on-glass touch panel; Quanta Computer will be responsbile for assembly. The report also claims that Amazon plans to ship four million of these 7- and 10-inch Android slates by the end of this year.
This new information comes right after reports that Amazon will be cutting costs of its supposed tablet by opting for a lower-end panel that will only be capable of two-finger multi-touch.
Once again, none of these details have been confirmed or denied, by the Seattle-based company. With a speculated release date in the fall this lower-priced tablet could face intense competition from the iPad HD, which is also predicted to be released later this year with double the resolution of its current counterpart.
