Curious what others are doing with their tablets? A survey has found the most popular uses for these devices, as well as the features that almost never get used.
The least-used functions are video conferencing, taking pictures or videos, and listening to music.
Of survey respondents, 60% own an Apple iPad, 17% own an Amazon Kindle Fire, 10% own a Samsung Galaxy Tab, 4% own a Google Nexus, 1% own a Microsoft Surface, and 9% own some other model.
Tablet vs. Laptop Use
The BuyVia survey found that about one third of tablet owners said their tablet has replaced the use of their laptop about 25-50% of the time, about one fifth of tablet owners said their tablet device has replaced the use of their laptop about 50-75% of the time, and another one fifth said their tablet has replaced the use of their laptop about 75-100% of the time.
However, about 20% said their tablet has replaced the use of their laptop only about 25% of the time, and 6% said tablets haven’t replaced their laptop use at all. Another 6% said they do not own a laptop.
About 20% of tablet owners have no plans to purchase a laptop again. On the other side of the coin, about a quarter of tablet owners have plans to purchase a laptop in the near future, and 16% said they can see they only have a tablet now but say they may need a laptop in the future. The remainder have a laptop but see no need to replace it any time soon.
