Those who would like to save a bit on an Android tablet from T-Mobile can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 at below the usual rate.
It usually goes for $300 with qualifying service contract, but until the end of the year it can be had for $100. There are some requirments to get this price, however.
First off, customers will need to put down $200 at time of purchase. A $100 mail-in-rebate will later reduce the total cost to $100.
In addition, buyers must sign up for a qualifying Unlimited Value plan or Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan for a two-year commitment. These plans come with a $15 a month EIP payment that will last for 20 months.
More Details on this Tablet
As its name makes clear, the device has a 10.1-inch touchscreen. This has a relatively-low 1280 x 800 resolution (149 ppi).
A WiFi-only version of this device debuted months ago, but the one offered by T-Mobile boasts built-in support for this telecom’s 4G HSPA+ network. It has also been upgraded a bit over the WiFi-only one. It sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (up from a 1GHz dual-core) and 1GB of RAM. Other features include 16GB of on-board storage (up from 8GB), a microSD memory card slot, and a 7000 mAh battery
An area that has not been upgraded is the operating system. The Tab 2 10.1 runs the somewhat aging Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but Samsung is working on a 4.1 upgrade for this tablet.
