The iPhone is finally going to be released by T-Mobile next week, but this carrier has yet to say anything about Apple’s tablet. Based on previous practices, the iPad probably won’t be available on this carrier until the fall at the earliest.
Sprint first began offering the iPhone later that year. However, it didn’t get the iPad until the fall of 2012, when the fourth-generation model came out.
The telecom didn’t get the third-generation one introduced last spring. This delay could have been related to its lack of a 4G LTE network at that time. Sprint launched its LTE service that summer, and then began offering an LTE-enabled iPad when the next model came out.
So something of a pattern is emerging. No carrier has started offering Apple’s tablet until a new model was introduced. So T-Mobile probably isn’t going to begin selling one before the iPad 5 or iPad mini 2 is introduced.
While Sprint’s experience raises the possibility that there might be a further delay, the fact that T-Mobile has recently launched a 4G LTE network makes this less likely.
