Mobile World Congress 2012 is little more than a week away, and there will no doubt be tablet launches in Barcelona. In addition, the iPad 3 launch looms. That said, Fujitsu, RIM and Acer are making news now.
RIM Confirms PlayBook OS 2.0 for February Launch
During a webcast, RIM reps confirmed that they were planning to release the next version of the PlayBook operation system on February 21. In addition, leaked documents also suggested the same. The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will bring a native email and calendar clients with deep social integration, along with other features.
Fujitsu Roadmap Hints at a Q4 Launch of Windows 8 and Also Reveals Tablets
A presentation slide displayed at a press conference earlier this week showed a potential roadmap for Fujitsu in 2012. The slide probably showed more than it hoped to. An expected date for the release of Windows 8 was shown for Q4 2012 as well as a “detachable Performance slate,” similar to the ASUS Transformer being released in September 2012. Fujitsu also plans to release a “mainstream Android media tablet” in June.
Acer Iconia Tab A510 Seen at FCC
Rumors have the Acer Iconia Tab A510 being released in April. As we inch closer to that day, the tablet is currently in the hands of the FCC to be inspected and tested. There’s not much known about the tablet at the moment except that it is a 10-inch tablet that will be running on Ice Cream Sandwich.
