So how well does your preferred Tablet PC manufacturer provide technical support? LAPTOP Magazine has “graded” some of the top manufacturers in the quality of technical support offered for there products. Two grades were awarded for each company. A seperate “web-based support” grade and “phone-based support” grade were averaged to provide an “overall grade”.
“Web grades were based upon the availability of information and the ease with which it was located. Phone grades were based upon wait times, the quality of service, and a positive resolution of the problem.”
We reviewed the outcome of LAPTOP Magazine’s findings and created a report card of sorts for top Tablet PC manufacturers named in the Tech Support Showdown.
|Manufacturer ||Tablet PC Models ||“Web-Based Support” ||“Phone-Based Support” ||Overall Grade|
|Acer ||D ||B ||C|
|Fujitsu ||B ||A ||A-|
|Gateway ||A ||B- ||B+|
|Hewlett Packard ||A ||C ||B|
|Lenovo||A ||A ||A|
|Toshiba ||D ||F ||D-|
Note that Lenovo and Fujitsu (no surprise here) both scored A’s for their overall grades. On the other end of the spectrum, Acer earned a “C” and Toshiba a pitiful “D-” for its overall grade. One thing we always recommend for consumers to remember – the price tag on a Tablet PC includes the support you may need after the sale. Always keep this in mind if you want to be sure that your Tablet PC manufacturer will be “there” for you after the sale. The good news though is that regardless of what type of support you get, the great community here at TabletPCReviewSpot.com is always “there” for free!
