Google Nexus 7 TabletOnce again, the DigiTimes is reporting that a $99 Nexus tablet from Google is in the works, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

The sources claim that the discounted version of Google’s Nexus tablet, which is currently being developed by the Taiwan-based Asustek, is expected to debut before the end of the year, in the fourth quarter of 2012. The only spec that’s been provided so far is that the $99 Nexus is expected to have an ARM architecture, single-core processor that’s developed by WonderMedia technologies, a Chinese company.

The tablet will be produced by Taiwan-based Quanta Computer, according to the DigiTimes, but Quanta has declined to comment on the legitimacy of the rumors. Meanwhile, Asustek has out-and-out denied the rumors, saying that it has no plans to launch a $99 Nexus tablet.
