Although the official unveiling isn’t expected until next month, a number of pictures of a smaller iPad have leaked out, including one comparing its size to Apple current tablet.
Instead of a 9.8-inch display, the iPad Mini will supposedly have a 7.85-inch touchscreen. This will apparently make the device small enough that it can be held in one hand, as demonstrated in the picture at right.
Also in the collection of images leaked to the French site Nowhereelse.fr was one showing a case for the iPhone 5, the iPad Mini, and a full-size iPad, plus a rear view.
Note: These pictures may be a mock-up rather than a working unit.
Other iPad Mini Details
According to unconfirmed reports, this upcoming tablet’s smaller screen will also have a lower resolution: 1024 x 768 — the same resolution as the first- and second-generation tablets from Apple, but lower than the third-generation iPad’s.
Naturally, it will debut running Apple iOS 6, likely giving it Siri support. The upcoming device could use the same smaller Dock Connector that is expected in the iPhone 5, and 4G LTE connectivity is expected to be an option on the more expensive versions.
