Three New Amazon Kindle Fires Coming in 2012?

Online retailer Amazon is looking to take over the tablet market with the reported launch of three new Kindle Fires in 2012: two 7-inch devices and an 8.9-inch tablet. Despite previous rumors, there are no plans for a 10-inch Fire.

The three models are said to be targeted towards a low, medium, and high-end market. These tablets will also be offering various resolutions. The low-end 7-inch Kindle will feature a 1024 x 600 resolution, the medium range 7-inch tablet will sport a 1280 x 800 resolution, and the high-end model will feature a 1920 x 1200 display.

Amazon has apparently signed agreements with Taiwanese assemblers Quanta and Han Hai, as well as Prime View and Chimei Innolux for flat-panel displays. Qanta made the original Kindle Fire, borrowing elements from the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Taiwan Economic News reports that Hon Hai will assemble the lower-end 7-inch Kindle model, while Quanta will put together the medium-to-high-end model.
