So what is extra special about the Toughbook-18 (besides the whole rugged thing)? We were absolutely delighted with the indoor/outdoor display. The screen literally radiates with brightness and clarity. Panasonic told us that the display will brighten to 500 Nits. We also liked the fully-customizable brightness adjustment that will fine tune to the user’s preferences in tiny increments.

So just what really makes this Tablet PC so “tough”. These additional listed features are what seperates the Toughbook-18 from the everyday ultraportable Tablet PC you may be carrying in your bag.

  • Reinforced, integrated antenna retracts into case design to protect against damage
  • Sealed LCD to provide extra protection against moisture and dust
  • Internal dampers and seals isolate the LCD from shock, vibration and moisture
  • HDD mounted in damping polymers to help insulate against sudden blows
  • Flexible connectors between the hard drive and system board to protect against the transfer of shock from drops and bumps
  • Sealed keyboard and touchpad prevent damage from dust and spills
  • Environmental seals protect the multimedia pocket, PC card slots and connection terminals from moisture and dust
  • Full or partial magnesium alloy casing that protects against bumps, drops and knocks

So if you plan to get out of the office, classroom or lecture hall and hit the field, perhaps the Toughbook-18 is the right Tablet PC for you. For further information about the Panasonic Toughbook-18, be sure to visit the official Panasonic website here.
