UPDATE: Barron’s reports the Apple iPad will be in select Walmart stores this Friday. The retailer hopes to have iPads available in 2,300 stores by mid-November.
The Apple iPad retail roll out continues as photos of the market-dominating tablets have been spotted at Walmart.
Apple blog Tuaw published photos showing the iPad behind glass at an iPod kiosk in an Arkansas Walmart store, where Walmart is headquartered. The pictures follow an image posted on MacRumors late last week showing the iPad on store shelves in Denver.
MacRumors also attained an internal Walmart email sent to store managers outlining store quantities, which are capped at five units per the six WiFi and 3G iPads available. In addition, Walmart stores will carry 10 units each of an array of iPad accessories, including the camera kit and wireless keyboard. The iPad will cost the standard price as found in Apple Stores and other retail outlets.
Target stores began selling the iPad, joining Best Buy in the big-box space. However, with more than 4,300 locations nationwide to Target’s 1,750, Walmart is the largest brick-and-mortar outlet to sell Apple’s tablet.
