ViewSonic Unveils New ViewPad Android Tablets

ViewSonic announced specific device specs and release information regarding its two upcoming tablets. The seven-inch ViewPad 7, which the company announced in August and displayed at IFA 2010 in Berlin, is billed as an on-the-go tablet that runs Google Android 2.2 and sports a cellular data connection.  Meanwhile, the 10.1-inch ViewPad 10, formally known as the ViewPad 100, sports netbook specs and runs both Windows 7 Home Premium and the very vanilla Google Android 1.6.

ViewPad 7 Specs:

  • Seven-inch 800 x 480 WVGA LCD capacitive multitouch display
  • 3.5G data connection
  • Supports VoIP and text messaging
  • Android 2.2
  • 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth connectivity
  • USB
  • 512MB storage; Up to 32GB via micro SD
  • 3-megapixel, rear autofocus camera; 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • Includes Google Mobile Service apps

ViewPad 10 Specs:

  • 10-inch 1024 x 600 LED backlit capacitive multitouch display
  • Windows 7 Home Premium/Android 1.6
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • Intel Atom 1.66GHz processor
  • 1GB storage; 16 GB SSD hard drive
  • microSD slot
  • 1.3-megapixel webcam
  • Video conferencing support
  • Built-in microphone
  • Flash and Office support
  • 8-10 hours of battery life

The ViewPad 7 is expected to be released in late Q4 and is set at MSRP for $480. The ViewPad 10 is expected for release in Q1 of 2011 for a $630 MSRP and is currently available at Sears online for pre-order at $380.
