For many people, checking the weather is on the first-thing-in-the morning “to do” list. The weather can dictate what to wear, when to leave the house, and how to get somewhere, so a reliable weather app is key. With a new version of its Android app, WeatherBug is looking to become that app for Android users.

WeatherBug for AndroidThe completely-redesigned app adds new safety and alerting features. WeatherBug for Android 3.0 uses Spark technology to provide minute-by-minute, mile-by-mile lightning strike information, day and week-long forecasts, severe weather alerts, live radar and camera images, and pollen counts. The company is working with the National Weather Service and the World Meteorological Society to provide these pertinent weather alerts

The redesign also includes slide-side navigation and customizable live tiles to show users the information they need and want the most.

The company claims to refresh its data every two seconds for up-to-date information.

Many of the same features were just added to WeatherBug for iPhone, an app available in Apple’s App Store. WeatherBug for iPhone is free, while WeatherBug Elite for iPhone is priced at $2.99.
