There will be tablets at the upcoming CTIA wireless tradeshow, and according to CTIA VP Rob Mesirow, a “significant” new tablet will be unveiled.
Mesirow did not elaborate on specifics, but did claim “Android, Android, Android,” will be the platform of choice, especially for smartphones, which were the main focus of the show in years past.
So what can it be? Samsung has all but confirmed that it plans to launch the 8.9-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, and is holding a press conference on March 22, the same day CTIA opens. Also, Sprint has promised to “pull back the curtain with the latest in wireless innovation” in an invitation to a press conference during the show.
Otherwise, the rumor mill is dry, outside of Sony’s mystery tablet, which doesn’t seem a likely candidate for CTIA given the ambiguity of the rumors.
Whether it is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 or some other mystery device, TabletPCReview will be at CTIA, where we will partner with sister site Brighthand for our Mobile Life event, featuring a panel discussion on the latest trends in smartphones and tablets, and the Brighthand Mobile Film Fest, which is still open for submissions.
