Which New Version of Windows is When?

So everybody is whining, complaining and getting down right “bent out of shape” over the next release of Windows.  Let’s first rest assured that Tablet PC users can only be thrilled that Microsoft has absolutely, positively confirmed the June release of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2004.  We know we need improvements (as soon as possible would be best).  But what about all these other “versions” that everybody is gossiping about?  Longhorn is coming uhhhh, maybe 2006?  Bill G. says that “there is no hurry”.  But how can it be that there will be two more years of innovation outside the WinTel world without any more than just an XP Service Pack (also due in June) and some 64-bit edition version thing?

Some Windows users are feeling a little uneasy about all the confusion!

To add to this major mix-up of sorts, there has been talk about an “in-between” release of windows dubbed “Oasis” or “Shorthorn” to the computer gossip crowd.  This particular version was denied by Microsoft’s Windows team.  Hmmm, but it would be so exciting to run out and pay $129 or so for this one.  We all remember how incredibly innovative the last mid release, Windows ME was.  It was an incredibly crashable preview of XP if you ask me!  So, which new version of Windows is when?  Judging by the media circus surrounding these questions, we will hopefully find out more soon.  In the meanwhile, Tablet PC users rest assured; our much needed new version is coming in June!
