RavPower Dual USB Travel Charger Review

When you’re traveling with your tablet, whether it’s across the country or across the street, you want to bring along the minimal amount of gear. RavPower makes an accessory that can do the work of two ordinary travel chargers.

Build & Design

The Dual USB Travel Charger (RP-UC11) looks a bit like the one Apple includes with its iPads — a rectangular box with rounded corners and edges – but at 3.2 x 3.2 x 1.4 inches and 2.9 oz. it’s slightly larger and half an once heavier.

What sets it apart from Apple’s offering is its pair of USB ports, not just the usual one. This allows this one accessory to charge two mobile devices simultaneously. And because it can provide up to 24 watts/4.8 amps through these ports, it can charge a pair of tablets, even iPads. Or it can be used to charge a phone and tablet, or two phones … whatever combination the user needs.

Like all good travel chargers, it features a flip-down power plug so it takes up minimal space in storage.

RavPower included technology in this accessory it calls iSmart, which is designed to “automatically deliver an output to perfectly match each specific product, allowing for maximum efficiency.” Naturally, we put this claim to the test.

In our tests, we found that the Dual USB Travel Charger charged an iPad Air 20% faster than the standard Apple charger. That’s significant enough to take nearly an hour off the time needed to fully recharge this tablet.

Tablets and phones come with their own chargers and it’s easy to just depend on them, but the RavPower Dual USB Travel Charger (RP-UC11) can reduce the amount of accessories you have to pack, and the time it takes to recharge your tablet or phone.

Plus It has another advantage: Those who frequently travel should assemble a kit with everything they need when on the road and keep it packed, as this is the safest way to ensure that something important isn’t left behind. The Dual USB Travel Charger can stay permanently in suitcase so the manufacturer’s chargers can be left at home.

Anyone who’s ever traveled with just one USB charger and had to set an alarm to wake themselves up in the middle of the night to unplug their tablet and plug in their phone so it could get a change too can see that the $12.99 price for the Dual USB Travel Charger is a bargain.
