At the end of the day, you buy a tablet like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 because you love the display, plus the overall look and feel. The performance aspects are often afterthoughts, but in this case the Samsung comes packed with some surprising performance and support for a wide range of hardware features. It’s a very well-rounded model that functions flawlessly and will provide you with an excellent experience.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 in WhiteOn the downside, the OLED display results in a relatively high-cost tablet, with accessories that are also expensive if you want to buy the Samsung brand. Samsung’s suggested price for this model is $400 — for comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0‘s suggested price is $270.

UPDATE: Months after its release, Samsung has dropped the cost of this tablet to $300, making it a much better deal.

If you can get over the premium price, I highly recommend the Tab S 8.4 for its simply glorious display. On top of that, the quality you get from the Samsung brand and the potential to use the device with Samsung’s well-known line of aftermarket accessories means you’ll have a great tablet with plenty of growing room.

Pros:

  • Beautiful, High-Res Screen
  • Excellent Performance
  • Solidly Built

Cons:

  • Premium Price

Bottom Line:

If you can get over the premium price, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has one of the best displays available on any tablet, and beyond that is a very well-rounded Android model that functions flawlessly.
